This is not my kind of book (I'm not so much into books about people in relationships, especially lit-y ones, because they tend to be about people in unhappy, dysfunctional relationships), so I'm surprised to report that I really enjoyed this and didn't struggle to get through it at all. I'm not going to say I understood it perfectly, but it was interesting and beautifully written and gave me some new insights on what it's like to be an adult. I'd give it 4.5 if I could.

I really enjoyed Jane's voice and following her romantic haps and mishaps. I was disappointed, though, in the end and felt Bank rush toward the finish. I think the "Guide" itself could have been extended a bit more. All in all, a fun read, clever characters, and moments of chick-lit reliability.

Note: I personally don't like calling stuff chick-lit and this book really could have missed that mark, were it not for the last chapter :/

I mean, it's a book. Lol. By the very end, I guess I understood the book had some sort of point, but for most of the book, it didn't feel like there was any real story or purpose.

Spoiler. . .
To put it another way: I normally feel strong emotions for characters. When a character dies or a couple breaks up, I mourn the loss with the other characters; I typically cry. This book had no such effect on me.

Bizarre but fun read.

I finished this 3 weeks ago and I don’t remember much of it. It was okay.

I loved how this book felt like a complete story, but gave you snapshots of Jane's life through short stories from various parts of her life.
