I’m torn on this one. It’s very enjoyable as an audiobook, which I appreciated. The story is intriguing, but was also a bit implausible and sickly sweet. It was all so rosy and heavy handed. There were so many branches to the story — and split timelines. The main topic was adoption. But also theater! But also NYC and LA! But also being a kid. But also being a single mom! But also friendship! But also being gay! But also celebrity! The whole thing wraps up with a perfect bow, which isn’t awful (and is admittedly comforting), but it just felt so unlikely. I still can’t decide if the main character India is fantastic and admirable or the actual worst.
