Laurie Frankel, I love you. This book is not "This is how it always is." This book is its own thing entirely, but it's special and important in its own way. At its heart, this book is about adoption and families in their many forms. [Side storyline in the theater/Broadway, and I'm actually really liking this trend] Frankel writes whip-smart characters with dialogue so sharp and interesting you just want to be in the room with them. I found myself envious of this big, messy, loving "family family." Love this quote in her author's note: (In parenting) "If you're lucky, if you can, you prepare for what you think will come up. What actually does is almost guaranteed to be something else entirely."
