I really enjoyed this comic! It touches upon some beautiful, nuanced metaphors. I also loved the art!

4.25 rounded up. Loved the art! The teen angst of it all was excellent (both in the parent relationship / communication and the school situation, great friend dynamic, interesting exploration of second hand fame and second gen immigration, good coming-of-age origin story.

If I'm being honest, I would rate this more as a 4-star graphic novel, but to offset 1-star reviews by these weird angry dude bros, I'm going up a star.
This is a really cute and beautifully illustrated graphic novel. The DC Graphic Novels for Young Adult has been one of my favorite finds this year as a series, and this is no exception. I love that this series just untethers itself from a million years of canon so that Tamaki and Yoshitani can tell a story about growing up and finding oneself in their own way.

This overall was a fun story, about the daughter of a superhero who doesn't want to associate with her mother. I actually really enjoyed the art in this, even if the story wasn't quite all the way there. I think I just wanted a bit more character development. Still a fun, quick read though!

Thank you to DC Comics for Young Reads for an advanced copy of this!
This graphic novel is about Mandy, Starfire's (Teen Titans) daughter, and the way she becomes herself in the shadow of her mother.
First of all, the art in this is to die for! The colors are so vibrant and absolutely, breathtakingly beautiful. I really love that. And I especially love the way the panels fill with flowers whenever Mandy's crush shows up! So cute!
I really liked this. I loved the way Mandy differentiated herself from her mom, but grew back together with her toward the end. I think everyone has a little teenage rebellion in them, and I definitely feel for Mandy! I loved the plot, and the powers, and the adorable relationship!
I'm sad to see this book getting so much hate, and from so many people who haven't read it either. Don't be the person who decides to hate something new just because it doesn't align with your worldview. kthx.
