I picked this one up to fulfill one of my November Book Bingo squares. I remember hearing about it a few years ago and added it to my never ending TBR. I was really intrigued by this novel as I started reading it. The prose has you questioning society and the different morality levels we see in people. Would you act differently if your life choices were tattooed on you for all to see? Would you act the same? This book was very thiught provoking to say the least. The trial in this story was a bit rushed but I definitely enjoyed the book as a whole. I intend on continuing the series.

I was going to put 1 star as I hated this book pretty much from beginning to middle/end, but the end surprised me (in a good way) and made me think, so I guess it deserves a two.
The world building is pretty incredible, and it becomes easy to believe in such a society. Unfortunately, everything else is lacking. The main character is so passive it’s exasperating. Every time she says she’s going to take her life on hand, she actually just waits for an other event to happen to her so she can reflect on it and get angry with her relatives. The storyline was extremely slow and not much happened overall. Leora waits for her dad’s trial to try and get him to be remembered, and then the trial happens. She thinks, she makes a decision, and oop! the books is already finished. Boring.
fast-paced

Więcej jest tu opisów życia Leory i jej codziennych spraw, przeplatanych opowieściami (a wręcz retellingami znanych baśni i mitów - Maleficent, Śpiąca królewna, Pandora) o historii naznaczonych.

I was going to give this book a lower rating, but the ending convinced me to go for the 3 stars.

The first half feels a little boring, and a bit like a rough sketch. The idea is great and interesting and although I could see the potential and direction it was going, it just didnt click with me. It was still very enjoyable but just not more than that.

With Oscar coming in the picture that feeling began to change an I was hoping it would all become much more interesting and fast. That didn't quite happen, but looking back now it might have been the right thing. It wouldn't have been right for Leora to completely change her mindset after believing the things she did for all those years. I wish she did though :')

I dont quite understand the ending
Spoiler Why didnt she choose Mal's option? It could have been the perfect opportunity to help people right?
it was suuuper cool and made me so excited for the next book! Suddenly the whole book felt a lot more refined and made more sense.
