“For the first time in my life, I'm doubting my faith, and it terrifies me.
For the first time, I want to change the rules.
For the first time I wonder: does it matter what it says on your skin, when what's at stake is your soul?”
― Alice Broadway, Ink

At first I thought the book was slow, but by the end I was a blubbering mess. The last line has made me want to pick up spark right now.

really cool concept and GORGEOUS cover but terrible world building and weird writing style that kept switching constantly. the characters were SO bland and boring, the plot was weird, this really just reads like a wattpad book

My brain hurts right now, from trying to decide how I feel about this book. Was it preachy? Was it the complete opposite of preachy? Ink is literally set in my idea of a dystopian hell, which I loved about it. I would not last two minutes in this place, I would want to scream at everyone. Also skin books make my skin crawl. The idea of people being covered head to toe in tattoos also isn't for me - I grew up with my dad covered in them, they do not look nice. But the writing is superb, gripping and takes me in to the story. Leora is complex, she frustrated me at times but she's young and naive, she's got a lot to learn. I will have a full review when I can piece together how I actually feel about this.

I really enjoyed this!

I mean... i need to read the rest of the series. Because the only thing i got to know in the book (spoiler alert!) is Leora's real history and how the soul-weighing of his father went, but nothing else. Like there was no actual plot because the book ended before that. Anyways, gotta read the next book. This book was very captivating and enjoyable. Rarely had uninteresting parts and I read it pretty quickly, especially towards the end. I live Leora's name and I love the world the author has created.

I love the idea of this book, having your life written on your skin for everyone to see. There are lots of twists and turns which kept me on edge and the ending was rather surprising. It's clever, full of story telling and fairy tales. It's worth reading and I can't wait for the next book in the series!

This is marketed as YA, but the writing style feels definitely at the younger end. It's quite slow-paced, but the concept it great
