mystery and thriller authors love the use of twins in a book. wasn’t too on the edge of my seat but i would recommend it to people

Amazingly written and just could not put the book down! Thrilled and mystery kept me hungry for more. You will not be disappointed with this book.

DID NOT FINISH: 39%

The central theme involving children is rough for me to read, and I hate the exploitation of people that are already being beaten down by other things. It’s not for me.

O carte scrisa recent care ma face sa ii dau 5/5. Asta este ceva rar pentru mine.
Mi-a placut ideea, scriitura, suspansul, tot.

A pretty solid 4-5 stars through the first section, but man did part two lose momentum. The lead up in part two was badly telegraphed, making the big showdown lose a lot of impact because it had been obvious for far too long coming.

I have some mixed thoughts on this one. I really really loved the premise and the beginning, but I did not like the end very much. I don't want to judge the whole book by the end, but I do think it should be noticed that the end very much soured my thoughts on the book, which is why i give it 4 stars.

I finished this book in one setting, since it was very interesting and I loved the writing style. The first half was especially very exciting to read. The intrigue, the mystery, the desperation of the parents, how everyone was a victim of the "chain", it was all very interesting to me. I really loved the main character as well. I just would have liked the book to have ended differently, since it really dissapointed me for spoiler-y reasons. I think there was just a lot of potential that didn't come to fruition. Still really enjoyed reading it!

This book started as a 5 star read for me - the concept was terrifying and the execution was fast paced and tense. The whole idea of The Chain is probably the creepiest, most f**ked up thing I’ve ever read about and it haunted me as I tore through the first half of the book. Then came the latter half where I completely lost interest. Once the horror of Kylie’s kidnap was over, I found I had little interest in who was operating The Chain. I guessed the culprit just before finding out which I quite enjoyed as McKinty gave us adequate clues to figure it out for ourselves. I felt that the ending was very convenient - I understand Kylie is smarter than most 13 year olds but the murders she pulled off were extremely far-fetched. The closing chapter with Rachel annoyed me also because we have followed her cancer story through 350 pages and there was no resolution to that - even if she is pregnant, how is she going to tackle the chemotherapy? For me, the beginning was brilliant enough to award 4 stars, I just wish the whole book had been as engaging and it could have been a favourite thriller of all time.

The premise of the book was intriguing! The concept of the chain based off the chain letters as kids has me hooked. The first part of the book was incredible and had me hooked. The second part of the book tapered off slightly and became more predictable.
The ending was good but felt rushed.
Overall I enjoyed reading it.
