this was sooo good, read it in 2 days! i didn’t like Trial by Fire nearly as much as Raised by Wolves, so i didn’t have the highest of expectations for this. i was so wrong, many things were so unexpected, this was great. i don’t know how to deal with the ending

I have read more than one review of this book that said while the writing was excellent, the story was not. I both agree and disagree with that sentiment. The writing is well-edited, with no unnecessary passages or descriptions to detract from the action. Bryn has some hard choices to make, choices that you or I would be hard-pressed to make.
I admit I cheated and read the last few pages before I had started the book.
By reading through the whole book, I got to see the rationale behind her final decisions and come to terms with the fact that not everybody gets a happy ending. It's lonely at the top, and while Bryn will always have friends among her pack to keep her grounded, I don't think she'll ever have a special connection to one person. Even her relationship with Devon will change, now that he is the Apha of his own pack and has his own interests to look after.
Even though the book ends on a cliffhanger, I agree with the author that this is the end of Bryn's story as a human among werewolves. If the series kept going, it would have a whole different tone with her as a wolf - a female Alpha in a world ruled by men.
Overall, I think it's a fitting end to this trilogy. If Jennifer Lynn Barnes decides to write more about Bryn, I'll be there to read it, but I'm content to let my imagination take over for now.

When I first read that Chase had died, I was angry and disappointed and not sure that I wanted to read the book anymore, if everyone that Bryn cared about died. I wanted a happy ending for her, for the pack to come out on top and have time to relax and be the teenagers they all are. As I read through the book and got closer to the end, I was still a little frustrated with Bryn and her inability to trust others. Devon, Chase and Lake would do anything for her - but maybe that's the problem. Bryn has to see beyond what would make her friends happy, and see what is best for the pack as a whole. Chase and Jed's deaths were sad, and maybe if she had a pause button she could have figured out some way to keep them alive, but I doubt it. Chase has always been devoted to Bryn about all - if it was between her and the pack, he would pick Bryn. Almost an excessive amount of twists. But I feel like it was pretty well written for YA. I didn't love the ending but at least it was different/unpredictable

I laughed, cried and hurt from start to finish!!! This is the most drama filled book of the series so far. The ending has me eager to read the next book
