I wish Shal hadn't cut the thread of his blackwork without weaving it under some stitches first. And I found the 'doll' and baby' nicknames annoying, despite the explanation on 205, but other than that I loved it. Lots of plot. The potty mouthed lawyer must have been so fun to write.
There's a lot of fun stuff in this novel from the high-class culture aboard a space cruise ship and the gender inclusivity, but as someone who is not particularly into murder mysteries, this failed to grab me. The characters were okay, but often redundant in their dialogue--not in a bad way if you're into lots of banter--that wasn't appealing to me. The MC is disabled which is worth noting and has a service dog that plays a prominent role.

A fun mystery with a satisfying ending. I enjoyed the science and the fiction, plus some great cocktail recipes. Liked it so much that I handed it to my mom right away.
