Excellent companion to kings work and a feat of engineering. It’s always fun to see a childhood concept pushed to its limits in an adult form. Unfortunately not as impactful without the source material but definitely one I might have to go out an buy.

A little girl get lost in the woods and there might be something other than bears out there. It’s pretty good, short to the point and free from a lot of the ramblings Stephen king is often plagued by. Amazingly free of weird sex stuff too!! The best part is the “wasp priest” it gave off yellow jacket vibe (complement)

pleasantly scary but maybe not if you are someone that spends a lot of time wandering around off trail in the woods

knocking off a star because of the stephen king-ness of it all and i didn’t really love the main character and was annoyed listening to her …

When nine-year-old Patricia McFarland wanders off the path that she is hiking on with her mother and brother in order to go to the bathroom, she becomes incredibly lost. Now, with very little food, energy, and sanity, she turns to her one and only link to the human world... her AM/FM walkman which is broadcasting the games of her beloved Boston Red Sox with closing pitcher Tom Gordon. Very soon, she begins to see Tom walking with her protecting her from the dangers of the woods in which she is lost. This book is incredibly well written although I sometimes believe that the language and views relayed by King's omniscient writing style are beyond the capacity of a nine-year-old girl. The ending of the story is very beautifully written and this probably ranks as one of my favorite King novels.

I like just about everything Stephen King writes. This was a good one...even though Tom Gordon went on to play for the Yankees. And the stuff she hears on the radio is great...who in New England hasn't heard the 1-800-54-Giant commercial?
