I really liked the book, it was a fast page turner. My only issue with it was there were several moments that did not resonate as much with a teen reading it in the 2020s. It also just wasn't the best of Stephen King's books but it was still really good

I am only giving this book three stars right now but that might change. I am still not sure how I felt about the book. There was not much action and I think the book cover was really misleading. My copy of the book stated "Frightening...Feverish Terror". I did not feel this while reading the book. Yes I would have been if it was me stuck in the woods (and I was stuck listening to the Red Sox!). I did end up liking the book but was really waiting for a Stephen King scare.
Had a hard time putting this one down. Reminded me of the Jungle in that, how many more bad things are gonna happen to this person? Overall enjoyed this short read. I feel like there are better King books though
One of King's more endearing works. While it never dips fully into horror, a lot of these sequences have stuck with me since I first read the story back in high school - particularly when Trish drinks river water and discovers the dangers of that action.
Definitely worth checking out if you haven't read it recently.

excellent descriptions of being lost in the woods and swarmed by various bugs, not to mention swamp-walking. difficult to read as someone who works in the forest - my subconscious kept yelling what the main character's best course of action would be. the supernatural element was very light handed, and felt more unlikely than anything. due to too many bear safety and first aid trainings, i'm sure....after discussing with a friend, we concluded that the supernatural hintings weren't really wrapped up and resolved.
an engaging read though i doubt i'd read it again. it did make me think about why i rarely am totally, panicking lost, different forms of spatial memory and how we remember places and people.
