Girl goes hiking in the woods with her mother and brother. Mother and brother get on girl's nerves with their constant arguing, so girl wanders unnoticeable away from them and gets lost going off trail. A week later, with the help of her guardian angel, Boston Sox relief pitcher Tom Gordon, she wanders onto a farm. Not much of a plot.

The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon was the first King book I ever read. My mother could never stop recommending it, saying that the story was horrifying, but still about something more than the horror itself. Rather than being about horror, it is a story of survival and hope. About how we keep ourselves together in the worst situations and overcome challenges that seem impossible.

It still stands out as my favorite King book I have ever read (which truthfully has not been many) and even years after reading it, it stands out as one of the most inspiring books I have ever read.

Second time reading it and still loved it.
