I absolutely loved this book! It went from happy to sad to hopeful every few chapters and it’s message is one of acceptance, love and realising you are enough. Cannot wait to read more from Dolly Alderton!

Okay, so maybe I had to many expectations of this book or maybe I should’ve know better, but it feel to self-indulgence for me and kinda boring at times.

The book I needed when I was in my early twenties, trying to be an adult and navigating love and dating. Reading Dolly's writing feels like talking to a close friend, and I love her satiric pieces on materialism, adult friendship, and all the silly rituals we do.

I think I came to this book with too high expectations. Maybe if I had read it a few years ago I might have found it more profound - as it was, I didn't feel like there was anything particularly revelatory in it. I still enjoyed it and so much of it mirrored my experiences of being in my twenties, and the sections that focus more on friendships and other people were definitely my favourites. I also loved the structure with the little interludes for a bad date story or a recipe.

Alright, let's start with what I didn't like about this book; I felt like a good part of it was definitely a bit too romanticized and fictionalized, which isn't very good on a piece about real life, especially with the many details furnished by the author. I also feel like some stuff was a bit troublesome, especially about ED and such.

Still, I think it was a wonderful read, if not about the general romantic love, especially about the platonic kind; some parts hit me deep, and although I don't agree wholly on a few, it still helped me through be reflecting and search my own purpose in an age very similar with the author; she also does it in a very calm and chill way that is shown in her brilliant writing. Overall, it's probably one of the first tik tok famous books that didn't get on my nerves and neither disappoint me, so I applaud you Dolly Alderton! (and curse you for all the tears).

Funny and endearing yet somewhat unrelatable. Having never been the party girl, Dolly’s life full of antics didn’t resonate with me. Even still, her viewpoints on love were consistently spot on. Dolly also uses a lot of English pop culture references and refers to places in England that I’m unfamiliar with, so, it was hard to determine what she was talking about in several places. The bond that she has with her girlfriends is admirable and makes me pine for those types of female friendships myself.
