This book was published almost ten years ago, so it’s helpful? interesting? heartbreaking? angering? to realize how much history continues to repeat itself - specifically Israel’s treatment of Palestinians. This is a collection of essays/conversations/speeches on the topic, so not necessarily a great starting point to learn about the extent of the history of Israel’s colonization in the region but you pick up bits and pieces throughout. Some of the conversations include what I presume are facts but I don’t believe any references are provided (listened to on audiobook). No Palestinian perspectives are included, just those of external activists.

This book delves deep into the importance of history and semantics in understanding the how certain narratives are shaped and perpetuated. It highlights the significance of acknowledging the past for a comprehensive perspective on the present, in building towards a better future. This is a conversational text between Frank Barat, Noam Chomsky and Ilan Pappé, whey they discuss the emotional impact of historical events, like the Nakba, on the lives of Palestinians today.
The conversations across the book emphasize the need to remember the past and the trauma it brings, as it can be a shared identity among later generations, leading to intergenerational trauma. They challenge the false dichotomy between emotions and rationality, stressing that emotions are an integral part of the logic and potential solutions. It calls into question the concept of "neutrality" and "rationality" when dealing with a situation marked by stark inequalities, particularly within the context of a significant power imbalance.
"On Palestine" challenges the way we see and understand History, urging us to dig deeper into history and semantics to truly grasp the issue and work towards a just resolution. This is a must-read, for us all.

I generally do not like interview style books. They tend to be lazy in writing, editing and are generally a money grab. This book is not immune to that either. This maybe would make sense if a Palestinian writer was involved but instead it's useless talking and cue some usual nonsense from Chomsky about how boycotting and rioting doesn't work.

Offers a good look into the anti-Zionist position and can be a solid starting point (although it requiers some knowledge) for people interesting in the pro-Palestinian movement.
