4.25 AVERAGE

4.5// an interesting discussion on the historical and present stances held by Israel and Palestine, still extremely relevant to read today and I found myself more reasons to be disappointed by the U.S. ://

A very thought provoking assessment of the situation in Palestine circa 2014. Given the light of the recent open genocide in Gaza it was particularly interesting and sad to see Chomsky and Pappe designate Israel’s policy towards Gaza and the West Bank as a ‘slow genocide’. It has now sped up.

I personally believe that Israel’s increasingly hostile and overt violence is a symbol of its decline - the contradictions inherent in a settler colonial ethnostate coming to fruit. This book does give some hope to that belief, but also makes it clear there is a lot to be done.

Persuading those in power in the US that they should withdraw support from Israel is what is needed to bring an end to the occupation and the apartheid.

Overall, a very informative and well written book. Aside from the last 2 chapters feeling somewhat rushed and choppy this was a perfect book.
