The premise of this book is fascinating - the murder is announced before it happens. The plot is executed well with plenty of twists. I’m not sure what it is that has me holding back on the rating - I think the motivation for the original murder and the choice of how is was done felt a little too contrived for me.

My fave Miss Marple story by far. Even though I guessed the 'who done it' part it's still gripping and very enjoyable. Love the detective and the little mysteries throughout.

Really twisty mystery from the queen herself. Felt like I was close to solving but of course there was one last puzzle piece only Mrs Marple knew.

I joined in the #QueenofCrimeReadalong in October and read A Murder is Announced. A lot of my fellow bookstagrammers really have great things to say about #AgathaChristie, I however, have never read a book of hers till now. As much as I tried to really get into the story, I didn't quite have as much interest as everyone else. I felt that the story had great potential, but at the same time I felt like it was all over the place, and it failed to keep me interested.

In short, an announcement is printed in the town's Gazette, requesting the presence of all those interested in witnessing a murder. Given the ghastly announcement, curious minds couldn't stay away. As the people from town gathered at Miss. Blacklock's home for the evening and talked about the advertisement in the paper. A joke.... is what this must possibly be....... little did they actually believe that a murder would really be taking place.
