A notice in the local paper inviting everyone to a murder, as though to a murder mystery party game, leads to...murder!
I particularly liked this one, which was both more intricate and more heavily clued (in the author's sly way) than usual. I got about 3/4 of the way through before I twigged to it. What I thought was most interesting here was the way everyone's opinions shifted regarding the event, redefining "what must have happened" smoothly and believably with the subtlest shift in "the facts," rather than questioning any assumptions. I hope this means I've picked up a new trick. At any rate, as soon as you see someone in a Christie novel tell you what must have happened, you can be sure it's a statement designed by the author to point you away from a clue...often in the line or two just before the misdirection.
Recommended for mystery/cozy fans.

De los peores que he leído de Christie. Iba a poner más malo que un dolor pero me ha dado cosita. Ya no es que el misterio sea más o menos fácil de resolver, es que comienza presentado a chorro mil personajes de forma un tanto confusa. Luego por fin te ubicas, pero hay algunos personajes que aparecen tan poco y tan pobremente caracterizados que de una vez para otra se te olvidan quiénes son. Al final, lo mismo, vuelven a aparecer todos de golpe y para que todos tengan su espacio les da una línea de diálogo a cada uno.
Empecé a leer a Christie durante la pandemia porque quería algo ligero y entretenido, fácil, pero que estuviera bien escrito. Me he leído ya varios de la autora y bueno, cumplía su función (siempre he sido más de Holmes, qué puedo decir). Hasta llegar a este. No sé si es que me ha cogido con el cuerpo del revés o qué, pero me ha parecido un truño.
Si buscas algo de Christie, me han gustado más títulos como “La casa torcida”, “Muerte en la vicaría”, “Muerte en la biblioteca” o el famoso “Diez negritos”.

O sí, porque en verdad te voy a ahorrar horas de vida. Hay un punto en la novela en que empecé a pensar: por favor que no sea Leticia, que no sea Leticia. Que no sea tan obvio y que no sea Leticia. Bueno, “Leticia”. Surprise: es “Leticia”. En “La casa torcida” pasé por alto la obviedad del responsable del crimen porque estaba mejor escrito y tenía más chicha, pero en este que no solo no tiene chicha sino que es un batiburrillo de cosas… En este no, Agatha, amiga, en este no. Una pena.
Seguiré leyendo cosas de Christie porque en general el balance es positivo, pero este título en concreto no lo recomiendo ni por entretenimiento.

I dig it. This is one of Agatha's more humourous mysteries, and Miss Marple is less annoying than in some of the other Marple mysteries.
Also, I have no idea how I missed this when I was younger, but there are lesbians in this book! Loved it.

C'était quand même assez addictif et le plot twist de la fin intéressant et pas trop sorti de nulle part, de manière générale c'est un bon moment de lecture, divertissant en tout cas !
