Very cute graphic novel. I think it would be great for ages 7-10.

⭐️4.25 Rounded Up⭐️ This graphic novel is adorable. The artwork is incredible - the artist does an excellent job conveying how a character is feeling through facial expressions, color, and body cues.
The initial premise of the story was what drew me in - I wanted to see brave little Garlic face her fears and save the day! Though that did somewhat happen, it’s important to remember that this book is juvenile fiction not adult fiction. It’s very light and doesn’t have a ton of depth to it or a big overarching message. Additionally, the story didn’t build up or end how I anticipated. However, none of this mattered because I didn’t approach this book expecting to be the target audience. You just have to enjoy the ride and not take it so seriously - it’s a fun picture book with beautiful art that will make you smile.
The only reason why I couldn’t give it a 5 star is because this book would’ve made a much stronger children’s picture book instead of juvenile fiction—the lengthier format doesn’t fully match the low stakes, lighthearted, fun vibe.
Super cute read!

4.25 stars. Read for middle grade spooktacular readathon. Such a sweet story. And the artwork. Ohemgeeeeeeeee. Amazing! I can't wait to read the second one, Vampire and The Witch.
Too cute! It definitely is the perfect comic for anxious bulbs ☺️
