Fast paced! Loved the back and forth between settings. Done well. Definitely predictable to me I figured it out halfway but still a page turner. For a thriller, not bad. These are my version of beach read/indulgences
Nope, this kind of story is not my thing at all. I didn't enjoy any of it, tbh. The characters were disgusting and incredibly unrelatable people, the interpersonal drama from being trapped in a confined space was uninteresting, and the conclusion was unsatisfying.
A bunch of rich people get trapped in an elevator and ultimately kill one another because of stupid reasons. Their situation was orchestrated by some woman who they were mean to years ago. She hadn't intended them to kill one another--she just trapped them there temporarily so she could steal their money--and the book ends before we get to see how she reacts to the deaths she inadvertently caused. Plus, one of them survives, but we don't get to see how he reacts to being robbed either. So.... ugh. The situation was stupid, the characters were stupid, the ending was stupid.
Oh, and the omniscient pov really didn't work for me at all.
I also find it super hard to believe that there are actually people like this in the world. Wall street people who work a million hours a day and are incredibly beautiful and incredibly sexist and also disgustingly rich and yet still feel the need to do illegal stuff to get more money...? It seems like a stereotype because there's no way that people are actually like this in real life.

I would say this one is 4-4.5 stars. Great element of suspense and mystery. I found some of my questions left unanswered and a couple of times I felt like I was rereading the same passages over and over (repetitive). Definitely left me surprised. Would recommend to others.

How sadly underwhelming.
The first chapter, revealing the elevator, really made me expect more from it.

So good, Gone Girl good.
I loved this psychological thriller. I was a little skeptical as to how the author could make a real escape room believable. Wendy did an excellent job of supporting the escape room as a real-life game. The puzzles and clues are fun to try to solve on your own. The writing style had a cliff hanger at the end of each chapter making it hard to put down.
All of the characters were well developed and likable. All around well written and engaging book.
I enjoyed her books, Emma in the Night and The Night Before. I plan to read Four Wives and All is Forgotten next.
I received this galley from NetGalley.
