This is the 4th book in a series but they can all be read as standalones.

Brother’s best friend, suspense, family and love. This book was just as emotional as the rest of the books in this series. This story follows Zoey and Tristian. Zoey is a caring person, while she takes care of her brother and basically her mother too, she is always putting everyone first. Tristian becomes the perfect fit and match for Zoey. He helps her out and becomes the person she needs in life, he helps Zoey lift that weight off of her shoulders a little bit and Zoey becomes less afraid and stressed about her abusive father. Zoey and Tristian create such a beautiful connection between each other.

*this story may contain triggers (abuse)*

There was actually a lot going on in the book, and I’m not really sure who actually started the fire even now that I finished it but I guess it was a good book

Trigger warning: domestic violence, attempted murder.

This suspenseful new adult romance starts with a bang and doesn’t let up on the tension until the end. Zoey is a teenager who had to grow up quickly after testifying against her abusive father, landing him in prison. She’s put her own dreams on hold in order to take care of her weak, dispirited mother and younger siblings since her older brother abandoned them for the military. When her car explodes, setting their house on fire, she learns that her father has been paroled and suspects he’s come after her. So, with help from her brother’s best friend Tristan who’s known the family for years, they relocate to CA and start over. It’s not too long before mutual attraction leads to love between them. Tristan is a warm, caring, handsome hero who has flaws he admits to, but his heart is in the right place. With his help, Zoey is able to take the first steps towards independence but at what cost? This is part of a series, but is a standalone. Recommended for older teens.

I received a complimentary ARC of this book from Simon Pulse through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

Lots of stressful drama, but I never really doubted it being hea. I am in love with Tristan though...he's just such a MAN. I love him.

I was expecting and excited to read a sappy romance. This book was disappointing in that it had so much potential and just kinda didn’t come to it. I feel like it should’ve been longer and certain situations should have been longer. And definitely the ending was not great. It happened so fast :/ overall, I liked it but it wasn’t my favorite

Love this series - but this one was a slight bit of a miss for me. I didn't really like the relationship development between the characters, and I felt the pacing was a bit off. An enjoyable read, but not as gripping as the first few books in the series.
