Love, love, love this whole series!

If you want a book to read that pulls you into the family and keeps you so wanting more, then this is it. Don't let the size deter you, you won't want it to end. The family is intriguing, strange, scary, fascinating and mysterious. How this is all woven into each others lives is amazing. A must read book.

My problems with this book were many and a lot culminated in the last 10%, but I finished it.
Once I've read the sequels, I won't have to think about it again.

I love Anne Rice, but this one was a challenge to finish.  It’s very long, a lot of backstory and very unsatisfying in the end.

The storytelling itself was captivating, especially the histories of the family and the Talamasca. The ongoing theme of incest throughout the book was quite disturbing though, and the love-at-first-sight between the two main characters was ridiculous and overdone. Looking forward to the upcoming tv show, they did such a good job with Interview that I'm looking forward to seeing what they make of this source material! Hopefully with less incest.

Two stars for the shear effort it took to write this book, but ultimately it falls flat compared to Rice's vampire series.
