Tore my heart apart, and put it back together again. Gave me a glimpse of a period in history that is still having horrible repercussions for the men, women, and especially, the children still in Afghanistan today.

It is a story of friendship. Family. Love. Loss. Redemption. Faith. Restoration.

Prepare yourself before you read it, because you will not be the same afterward!

I still think I liked A Thousand Splendid Suns better, but this is a powerful emotional book. I loved the characters and the realism portrayed. Glad I finally got around to reading this.

I still never stop talking about this book and that's how much hooked I am to it...!! Amir feels more like my reflection and Hassan is like the loyal friend everyone wants to have. I can never begin to narrate how closely the tragedy of the characters tore me apart or how much it told me of Afghanistan's past. I also developed an interest in Farsi through Khaled's works. YOU GOT TO READ THIS BOOK!!! there's so much and I am afraid of spilling the secrets, but, gotta tell you- it's one of my best reads!

Beautifully written.

“there is only one sin, only one. And that is theft. Every other sin is a variation of theft. When you kill a man, you steal a life... you steal his wife's right to a husband, rob his children of a ather. When you tell a lie, you steal someone's right to the truth. When you cheat, you steal the right to fairness... there is no act more wretched than stealing.”
