Good. Some stuff highly arcane some fascinating self insight, but some  repetitious content which feels like undergraduate level literary criticism.

🌟 All great art invariably lets us say the same thing: This was really about me.

felt like a long journal entry titled as a book of essays. some thought provoking concepts though.

Andre at his most Andre-ist: part time genius, part time wanker.

Mixed thoughts on this one. It started really strong, and the first few essays were exceptional. I didn't agree with everything Aciman posited, particularly in the essays about Freud, but I appreciated it all nonetheless. However, the essays on Rohmer lost me. Whilst they were interesting, they seemed more self-absorbed than anything. Things picked up in the reflections on St Petersburg, but towards the end of the book I found myself willing it to be over already! My copy of the book is full of folded page corners at the start, but this trails off to barely any at the end. A real mixed bag.
