Montalbano is such an unusual character and so are the other police in his department. The story starts off with a bizarre standoff situation with religious old folks and in the end does connect it back to them. Leads the reader on a romp around the countryside thru the treasure hunt clues. Did realize part way thru the story that it was probably the young kid who was interested watching how Montalbano works. A rather gruesome killer and definitely a twisted brain.
Enjoyed this one too - no exciting surprises but this is not necessarily a bad thing if one reads to pass their time.
