I just finished this novel and felt like some of the comments where really unfair -

I really enjoyed this book and got swept away with the emotions of how awful her childhood was.

I liked the book enough to go back and start reading his parents story, as this is the first Molly McAdams books I have read.

It was a good storyline and a good love story however I felt some parts kind of got repetitive and dragged on. I also felt like the author could’ve done more when the person from her past showed up and could’ve made that a bit bigger than it was throughout the book. Overall a good read!

I stumbled on this book because it as free on audible. That to say I LOVED IT. Omg the dynamic between reed and Emma was oh god is was heart warming and soul crushing all at once. Emma’s story was just trauma after trauma and my heart completely broke for her. But the way reed was with her and the patience he had for her from the very beginning made me so emotional because it was so endearing. ALSO reed Ryan is officially on my top MMC list. The way he worked with Emma to slowly bring down her walls but at the same time let her know that she can’t use him as a verbal punching bag was absolutely perfect. Omg he was just so patient the entire book. His relationship with Nora (Emma’s little sister) was also perfect! I went into this book completely blind with ZERO expectations and it was ABSOLUTELY perfect! I do wish there was another book with two side characters that I absolutely fell in love with BUT I still loved this.

FAVORITE QUOTES:

“But love comes when you aren’t looking for it. Life has a way of giving us exactly what we need when we need it.”

“That freefall before deploying your chute . . . that’s what Emma felt like.”

“I love you more than should be possible. I see our future when we’re on the porch swing or when I listen to you walking up the stairs. I see my wife when I look at you.”

“Gonna take you to bed now and hold you in my arms as I fall asleep,” he said, all traces of laughter fading. “I’m gonna be there whenever you wake up, afraid of who’s next to you. And one day, I’m gonna marry you.”

“I want to brand my name on your soul because you’re already burned into mine.”

I'm surprised that I actually loved this book. I thought I was going to hate it at the beginning when all there was were secrets but once they started getting revealed I fell in love with the characters. Being able to witness the transformation McAdams wrote into her characters was truly magical.
