Such a delight. Unlike the reaction I had to rereading [b:Madeline and the Bad Hat|1027760|Madeline and the Bad Hat|Ludwig Bemelmans|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1355497395s/1027760.jpg|1092326], I loved experiencing this one again. The illustrations are gorgeous, the story is funny, and Olivia is so relatable.

As an added bonus, I was treated to the rare experience of being read TO instead of reading to someone else. The second-grader I was babysitting picked this book out and read it to me, with character. I was able to witness his joy in the act of reading, as he tried to convey Olivia's mother's exasperation while simultaneously being unable to stop himself from cracking up. I love kids, and I love books.

Pepo - povuci se u ilegalu. Olivija je prase kakvo ti nikada nećeš biti. Ona slika, ona igra balet, ona gradi kule od peska na plaži i tera mamu da joj čita po pet knjiga pred spavanje. Ide u muzej i ima psa i crnog mačka.

Fak jea, Olivija!

We love Olivia. She is a wonderfully creative character who uses her imagination while being a strong girl pig. Plus the storylines and illustrations are very intelligent. Olivia is unique in a world of kids characters which are predictable and sometimes bland. While these are kids books they are not "dumbed" down for kids.

This book is so funny! And educational. And everything I want a children's book to be for a 4 year old person. : )

Wonderful illustrations that wonderfully illustrate a "day in the life" and how exhausting it can be, and how unconditional love doesn't make it any LESS exhausting, just worth it. Very, very clever as well, making this a delightful read for the adult, too. Falconer's artwork is outstanding. One you'd not *quite* mind reading night after night.

Olivia’s so much fun because she acts exactly how every cheeky child (and many cheeky adults) want to act.

Mother Tongue Notes: Many 3 letter “h” words for good beginning reader practice.

I used the page with the pictures of Olivia wearing herself out to talk about action words (verbs). After naming all the verbs they could from the page, we played charades. Students had to act out verbs for each other to guess.
