A highly compelling, spine-chilling ghost story, that left me properly unnerved. Content notes for child death, downing and violence.

I would have enjoyed this more had I been completely unaware of the plot. But having seen the play twice and the film, the tense atmosphere was lost as I knew what was going to happen. That being said, it is a wonderfully written book and it's easy to see why it's become a classic

This is a quick snappy read once you get into Arthur telling the story of Eel Marsh House, I read it in one sitting as I couldn't put it down; namely as it is so quick there isn't a place to stop and put down the book! I felt the ending was a bit sudden but it does tie in with the Woman in Black theme of there one minute and gone the next so it's understandable when you take into account the plot in its entirety. Please do not read this book if you are a sensitive person as parts of it may effect you deeper than its meant to!
