I think I had high expectations of this book knowing that this is #2 to The Handmaid’s Tales and it turned out to be sightly different. This one has several characters’ perspectives rather than one narrator. The ending also was a little predictable... Makes me wonder if this book is meant to make readers happy to see some light after being introduced to the toxic Gilead world? Again, Atwood continues to challenge me to rethink our own history and what we are currently living through and what our future might look like....

I loved this book, I think it was even better than Handmaid's Tale. I obviously didn't read the description well enough as initially thought it would just be a continuation of Offred's story but this was way better. I liked the glimpse back to the founding of Gilead as well as Aunt Lydia's backstory. The comparison of the lives of the two girls, one from Gilead and one frm Canada was also great. The way they speak its almost like they are from different time periods but they are not. Goes to show how insulated Gilead is from the world. Definitely worth the read !!
