This is a children's book  of spooky stories. I remember  reading  the first book  in elementary school and it was good fun.

It's not scary but spooky and mixed with funny and some kid friendly  light horror or thriller stories.

What I enjoyed  best is if you ever seen the movie  urban legends or watched I know what you did last summer or saw TV series  on urban legends  and their origins, the author mentions Alot of these  but in a child  appropriate  way not getting  into the dark details but a simple  summary.

As an adult  reading this book I realize how much of these stories have evolved  or devolved  into our cultures. I appreciate  these books not only for nostalgia  sake but because  it's just human psyche to create  stories  to try to explain  what we don't understand  or as warnings  for survivability reasons.

If your looking for horror  or nightmare  fuel this is not it. They are quirky pg  rated funny and  sometimes nutty or simple versions of  spooky stories and urban legends. It's a great light read.

I remember me and two of my friends at sleepovers would each grab a Scary Stories book and take turns reading the stories out loud. Some of the stories were really good but others...not so much.

This art mesmerized me when I was a kid.

Not super scary by any means by nostalgic from when I was younger and still a fun quick read

lol it’s crazy how many of these stories I remember hearing as a kid from friends—not knowing they came from these books!

It was ok, some stories were short and barely scary (by some, I mean like 99%), the 1%? Actually good, but, nowhere near as scary as say, the nightmarys, not even close, but, in the authors defence, it was made for like 8 or 9 year olds, and, when I first read it (before I had any exposure to actually very scary books), it was 5 stars, but, because now, when I reread it, and I had exposure to books like the nightmarys, I realized it isn’t really that scary.
