Trying too hard to be Curious Incident and failing badly. The story itself isn’t bad but focusing on the story is hard because the writing is not easy to follow and has no punctuation

<3<3 This book does a psychological backflip and lets you peek inside the mind of a young child who is grieving

Hamlet is now a pre-teen boy, a bit bullied, whose dead father gives him less-than-reliable insights from the beyond as Uncle Alan makes moves on his (Uncle Alan's) erstwhile sister-in-law.

The punctuation-free stream-of-consciousness style isn't really my thing, but the riffs on Shakespeare were fun.

This Hamlet retelling is inventive, fast-paced, and surprisingly moving. The plot doesn't necessarily go exactly where you'd expect, and that's a good thing. I enjoyed the characters, the set-up, the creative approach to a familiar story, and most of all, the author's amazing talent for playing with words. My full review is now up on my blog.

Supposedly a fresh and new update of hamlet but in actuallity not very new or fresh and lacking of real substance. Though, there's one part that I just loved. The kid who has recently taken an interest in rap and the likes of 50cent happens upon about his father's record collection and talks about how Marvin Gaye got shot but because he wasn't a rapper died.

This was cool to read especially with all the Hamlet references and allusions. I liked the interpretation that Haig brought in - though that might be because I've read the play three times and twice in a college class, so I love the analysis bit. I'm not sure how much teenagers would love it.
