This has easily become one of my favorite reads of 2024. I laughed, and I cried way more than I ever thought I could. What a beautiful story. I didn’t even know this was a prequel until I was about 30% through the book. I am excited to read more about this world!
6-stars!
“Butterflies celebrate all love, Channi, because every love is precious. And mine for you, above all. That love is forever.”

Her Radiant Curse is the prequel to the duology of Six Crimson Cranes and, fortunately, was not like its second book.
Even though, having read the original series, you know the ending, the book is still pretty interesting and has a lot of magical, mythical elements to support the story.
The book, in addition, is full of emotions and the relationship of Channi and her sister was the highlight of the whole story.
And yes, the romance was a bit forced, but, it did give a chance for Channi to at least feel romantic love for the first time.
The writing, finally, was, overall, enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this book. It had been a while since I had read the six crimson cranes and the dragon’s promise. It might have been better if I had read them back to back, but nevertheless it was a very enjoyable read. Predictable at times, but that didn’t really bother me.
