So I listened to this as an audiobook so I’m not sure it counts towards my reading goal. But it was a great listening experience and the book itself was an interesting detailed look into the history of F1 as a media juggernaut. The book also doesn’t take itself too seriously nor does it take the sport too seriously. My only complaint was that it wasn’t clear to me if the authors had interviewed anyone or if every time they quoted someone it was from a secondary source. I might consider actually just reading the book.

This is the second book I’ve read by this duo (“The Club” was the other) and neither has disappointed me. A great summary of the behind-the-scenes history of F1 that was obviously well-researched with some amazing and critical sources. For someone like me whose degree of interest in the sport has varied across the past 40 years, it was great at filling in the gaps. I learned a lot more than I thought I would. (I’d forgotten all about Spy-gate). A thoroughly enjoyable story of a sport which is often more interesting off the track than on it.

Quite a good read. A sort of cliffnotes of F1 history for the Drive to Survive era fan.
