I mean it's good for what it is. It delivered different anecdotes and moments in history in Formula 1, in a way that is VERY readable. Not dry at all, it does suck you in and it has a solid number of funny facts I'd never heard before.

My only qualm is that sometimes, it says things that are just blatantly incorrect, and it often disrespects drivers by simplifying or minimizing their accomplishments. How DARE you insinuate that vettel wasn't all that special. On top of that, how DARE you slander Nigel Mansell.

At the end of the day, I think it's a well researched book that does what it sets out to do in a way that is very engaging. However, it does simplify some nuanced situations and careers in unflattering ways.

Great and very informative books, especially for newer fans who want to learn more about F1's history.
But you should already know a few things about the sport, otherwise the book could be hard to keep up with

A great book on the pundits and characters that made F1 the sport it is today. The only criticism is a possible sense of doubt in the stories spun as some glaring facts were incorrect.

had so much more fun with this than i expected. managed to struck a perfect balance between entertaining and informational. my concern going in was that i would end up caring more about some chapters, while struggling to get through some others - and while, yes, some chapters wade more into the technical & business side of things, it didn’t put me through a slog. in fact, i think it made me consider stuff that i hadn’t questioned about the sport before. i appreciate that it never really loses sight of its own central theme: f1’s ability to reinvent itself time and time again, accommodating for new audiences and new circumstances, for better or for worse.
idk how interesting this could be for long-time fans, but i started properly watching races only last year, so it filled in some gaps in knowledge. overall, very digestible, especially for a book that spans the history of a very eventful 70 year sport.
