If Bernie Ecclestone has no haters, I'm dead.

If you're a Formula 1 fan, this book is a must read. It gives a really good overview of the history and business side of F1. I also think this book does a great job of explaining what an insane company this is and how shady a lot of the business practices are around making these races happen.

I can't give it 4 stars because a couple glaring fact check errors made me concerned about some of the research for this book. How did calling Valterri Bottas Estonian pass to print?? The most recent grand prix death also isn't Senna its Jules Bianchi. But at face value its an interesting an insightful book for anyone who loves the sport and wants an accessible jump point into the last 30-40 years of F1

A really enjoyable read and a great format for looking at a sport's history, focusing on key innovations and changes more than specific events. Robinson and Clegg have another hit on their hands, and the best part is that you don't have to be a huge F1 or motorsport fan to really get into this.

If you're an F1 fan, you'll like it. If you like reading about change and innovation, you'll enjoy it, and if you like reading about larger-than-life personalities (sometimes jerks and a$sholes), you'll be entertained.

From crucial sponsorship decisions, mechanical changes and cheats to the influence of Netflix, The Formula covers it all in accessible clear and well-separated chunks through the history of F1.
