I received this book as part of an early readers program. I was expecting a kind of psychological thriller; however the plot is more action of a Jason Bourne type (only not as thrilling). It's simple: Jo Beckett, psychiatrist, is asked to review a gentleman acting strangely on a flight. He's lost his memory, which resets every five minutes or so. What he can remember is that his family have disappeared and he has Jo's ID card...enter guns, fighting, car chases and a big showdown.

This really isn't my kind of usual reading, the idea of 'Slick' was good and the ending noble but I would prefer to watch this as a movie rather than as a reader.

9/10 - didn't think I will enjoy this as much as I did. Good plot, interesting characters and fast moving all the way through.

Like Memento, but in the proper playback and with a high-tech flavor. Lots of twists and turns. Bittersweet ending. Kept me hooked, to say the least.

This was a scary book to read during a pandemic - a character can only retain his memories from before an exposure to a chemical, and he's contagious AND on the loose. It's up to Jo Beckett to figure out why and how to stop him. It had a good ending, but didn't wrap up the exposure storyline well. I enjoyed The Memory Collector - it was one of Meg Gardiner's better books.

Loved it! My only complaint is that it was a little too like the movie Memento, but otherwise I thought it was great! Suspenseful, fast-paced, and suprising!

I really enjoy Meg Gardiner's fast-paced plots, and Jo Beckett is an endearing character. The ending was really good!

I couldn’t put this book down and had to finish it in one day. Yeah, Jo was kind of stupid and annoying sometimes, but looking past that I just wanted to know what happened and how it happened!
Also, new fear ✨unlocked✨ : ante-retrograde amnesia. Thank you Google for telling me that it is often temporary, which isn’t how they portray it in this book. I guess it’s like that guy Tom in 50 First Dates, but living the remainder of your life that way would be H.E.L.L. Absolute hell.

Despite poor reviews, I really enjoyed this book! Jo Beckett the main character is called in to help figure out what has happend to this man who has lost his ability to form new memories. Is it a terrorist attack? Is it an experiment gone bad?
Once again Jo fights to stay ahead of 'the bad guys' to figure out the case before lives are lost.
I wish Gabe was more involved in this story but other than that, I felt that the book had plenty of action and suspense. I had a hard time putting it down as I just had to know where the story was going.
Great book!
