I'm on the train of finding MG like Amari, and I'm finding my inner child again. I got this book two years ago in London due to its sick cover (yes, I got it because of the cover). I found this a mixed feeling: I like the world, I like where I think the story Is going, I like most of the side characters, and the villain is just the best!! I have some picks with the MC. Something about her personality makes my eyes roll, but overall, this is such a fun experience. I wish the world-building was a bit more explored because it sounds super interesting.

It was fun getting to know this world. The main characters were fun to get to know. I loved the professor’s names. I hope we see more of professors Mbalia and Ursu in the next book. I’m looking forward to reading that one!

This was a fun read! Imagine if Harry Potter were more diverse with a heroine from Louisiana. Be on the lookout for author Easter eggs throughout the book!

A fun start to the Conjureverse series. 

I love that Ella is trying to broaden her knowledge of magic and improve the way others look upon conjurors by showing them how awesome they are. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series to see what trouble finds Ella next.
