✅college

✅football player/art major

✅second gen (Peyton is Marcus Talon and Shane Miller’s son; I read Brady’s story first and it was neat to see his struggles with the SEALs from a different POV)

✅found family (Levi’s parents live the elite life and his dad cuts him off when he finds out why he really followed Pey to FU, art school)

✅second chance-ish (teen hookup where feelings were hidden)

This was the book I was most excited for in the series. One, it’s Eden Finley and I love her. But also, Peyton is Talon and Miller’s son! And, we were going to see Maddox again! So many things to look forward to! And the book paid off in pretty much every aspect.

Let’s started with just the book on it’s own. I love Peyton. I like that he’s not a typical player, that he’s so driven, and that he’s also sweet and has a great sense of humour. I also loved his relationship with his brother, Brady. I loved his relationship with his whole family, really, but we’ll get to that. The other MC, Levi, is also great. He’s different than I’d expected him to be, but in a good way. He’s more confident. And the dynamic between Peyton and Levi is fun and snarky and cute. I just would have liked it be not so heavy on the sex. I needed a couple more real conversations to be 100% happy with the relationship.

As for conflicts, there are a couple. There’s Levi’s shitty family, but that’s not relevant till later on. For a large part of the book, it’s Peyton not wanting to get invested in a relationship that might not have a future. He’s graduating and moving who knows where, and he needs to focus on his career. I thought both conflicts were handled well.

Now, onto the cameos. Not the ones from this series, though there’s a few of those too, but the ones from Eden’s other series. Yes, Talon and Miller are very present. Miller is amazing, as you’d expect. Talon can be a lot. There were a couple of times when I wanted him to get off football’s ass for just a second, but he’s still a great dad. I liked Miller more, though. Sorry.

Next, we have Maddox and Damon. Damon we see all the time and I love him, but I can’t tell you how much I was looking forward to seeing Maddox. He’s my favourite Finley character, if I had to choose one, and while he’s not in the book a lot, I loved the scene he does have. And that he and Damon are in the same scene... I miss those two so much.

Overall, a great book to end the series on.
