I received this in exchange for a fair and honest review.

The cover is stunning, the synopsis sold it further and the fact it was compared to Stardust at the beginning filled me with high hopes.

However, this is quite a slow paced book and from the outset I was left wondering if there would be a sequel. It turns out it's a standalone and from then on I was disappointed. Not too much happened, it's not bad but I won't be rushing to reread it as I didn't have the emotional connection or love for the characters as I wanted.

Such an amazing story, captivating and beautiful like the stars. Sheetal is a character almost every girl can relate to and Dev, oh Dev, is the guy every girl wishes for. I really really love their relationship.

A story I did not want to finish, I enjoyed not so much and tried so hard to prolong it's end. Which if you think about is only possible if you stop reading, and I couldn't.

Star Daughter written by @shvetathakrar
Is a lovely coming of age story, thats a nice easy read.

Its a novel about a teenage girl finding herself. Its a story of batteling who you are, and where you belong in the world.
It shows sheetals development from a scared girl into a strong woman who stands up for who and what she believes in.

It is such a beautiful descriptive story, of beautiful starry kingdoms and a magical world hidden within the mortal realm. I loved seeing the representation of Indian culture and people in this story! Finding out about all the hindu mythology was immensely interesting also, I learnt so much!

I did find the ending a little lack luster, I was expexting something a bit more fantastical. And I felt it left it a little unfinished as there was still answers needed.

But over all very easy and nice read!

I was really excited for the star concept of this book and the Hindu constellations and mythology influences. Sadly the plot did not live up to my expectations and it felt like there was a lot of time where nothing happened and the book could've been at least 150 pages shorter. For most of the book I found Sheetal to be very annoying and whiny and hated how she got mad at everyone else for keeping things from her but never held herself truly accountable for her actions. Very self-centered and the romance/obsession with Dev felt forced. The ending was rushed compared to the rest of the book's pacing and a little cliche as well. Overall I had to force myself to read this and seriously considered DNFing at the halfway point.

You can tell it’s a debut novel plot-wise, but the prose is absolutely amazing. Can’t wait to read more!

An absolutely gorgeous book, but the story falls a bit flat for me. The concept is quite intriguing, but a lot of the decisions just didn't make much sense to me and I did not feel like everything was resolved in the end. I know real life often doesn't completely resolve itself, but it could have been tied up a little neater by the end considering it is a standalone.
