I wanted this book to be about her pregnancy loss but it was actually about her alcoholic spouse and it simply did not interest me. Well written and engaging but I would only recommend to someone dealing with the addiction of a partner. Occasional bits of truth about her loss that made me tear up but the book was not as advertised to me. I will give it props for not having a "happy ending" - no discussion of LC or desire to try for an LC.
A well written and powerful story. The ending lines came in clutch, but left me wanting more of a nature conceit in terms of comparing femininity and also the idea of “the rules do not apply” to the unpredictable nature of nature.

This book blew me away. Totally grabbed me and didn't let me go. An amazing story of grief and hope.
From a craft perspective, this is a wonderful piece of writing. Levy’s syntax is sublime. Though the ending felt rushed, that was partially understandable given that the Story may be ending, but the story of her life obviously is not. It was also quick, which made it easy to keep going with even when issues came up.
And there were some issues. Levy was self-aware on some fronts, and in other arenas… not. The way she talked about the traveling part of her work didn’t acknowledge the privilege afforded to her by whiteness when moving through places like South Africa and Mongolia. And the way she talked about Jim was a particularly outdated way to talk about transness, especially transition.
