The first two stories/novellas are an incredible slog. While I enjoyed the connections to the Dark Tower as well as Connecticut geography, it was a struggle to get through them. Just WORDS WORDS WORDS that don't go ANYWHERE. OMG too many words. Just blathering for hundreds of pages. Damn you, King.

The third, shorter, story (Blind Willie) was probably the best here and then the entire book ended on a poignant, bittersweet note.

I am likely not the target reader for this book since the theme of Vietnam throughout is a couple generations before my time. There was little to relate to here for me. However, I can see how this book could be a favorite and adored by some. Wasn't for me.
