Not sure what to think about this book. Some sections were 5 stars, and some sections were 1 star. I have no idea what the hell went on during one of the stories. The beginning and end were great, and I feel like it was just kind of a disjointed mess with attempted connections in the middle. I don't really feel like it contributes anything new to the Dark Tower experience; it just uses some of the terminology and concepts. I want to punch myself for saying "Dark Tower experience", especially because it's the second time I've said it today.
Anyway, I probably would have enjoyed the book much more if it would have just been about Bobby, Carol, and SJ. Oh, well.

This was a mixed bag for me; I almost DNF'ed it after Blind Willie.
That being said, if you read this, please do; even if it's just for "Low Men in Yellow Coats." It's a beautiful story and I enjoyed it vastly more than the film adaptation of "Hearts in Atlantis".
The story of "Hearts in Atlantis" was also good, but not quite the same. The characters felt fully fleshed out and I really enjoyed Stoke's character.
"Blind Willie" made me feel nothing. I don't cope well with unlikable main characters and Willie was one of those.
However, "Why We're in Vietnam" and "Heavenly Shades of Night are Falling" were both equally touching in a different way from "LMiYC". My advice, read all of them except "Blind Willie" then read that last.

Graphic: Bullying, Violence, War
DNF @ p. 249. Felt like a never ending introduction describing barely anything happening and it got more and more chewy the more I progressed reading. My first and probably last book of Stephen King that I read.
This book is like a sandwich made with amazing bread and bland fillings that are ostensibly meant to pair with one another. The first and last stories (especially the first) are really great. The middle three are just okay and lower the overall quality of the collection.
