4.0 stars. This book tells several individual stories and one overarching one at the same time, each complementing and informing the other(s). Mostly slice of life stories (which King is excellent at) with a focus on the Vietnam war, but with a Dark Tower plotline happening on top as well. Good stuff all around.

I liked the first two novellas, but the three stories were a bit disconnected and not as enjoyable. Good pacing though.

First story is great (which is why it’s not a 1) but the rest are awful
