This was dumb. This should have the subtitle: how a card game nearly destroyed my life. I'm sure there's supposed to be some greater meaning here, but I was too distracted by the obvious premise to see it. I also couldn't believe something like a card game could entrance so many people for so long and destroy so many of them. Even video games don't catch that many people all in the same place at the same time. A few, sure, but not like one or two dozen. Plus I don't buy losing your virginity would be such a profound even as is played out here and when I lost mine it was pretty good for both of us, but we didn't dwell on it like it was dwelled on in this book. Just not very good.

it was good for a historical fiction. Idk who I would recommend it to, but enjoyed the listen. The narration was great. Interesting perspective of the Vietnam War.

Seriously though, this book is far more about character development than plot. Take your time with it, it’s not a book to rush through.
Loved the connections with the dark tower, and Insomnia to some extent. The 5th story pulled this collection together quite well but still leaves a little mystery.
