An enjoying thriller that kept me up past my bedtime. It also speaks to larger themes of modern motherhood and new adult friendships.

This book is narrated by 4 multiple characters and it starts off in the first person voice of one of them. Though she seems to be anonymous and I thought I knew who she was. But only at the end, her identity was revealed and I was surprised!
A mommy group where they called themselves the May Mothers who are all new mommies and babies born in the same month. Twice a week, they will get together to share their birth story, motherhood and tips to maintain their sanity while trying to be the mother they imagined that they would be.
When one on the member decided to have a night out at the neighborhood's bar to have a fun break away from their newborns. But on this 4th of July, something tragic happens that changed all their lives - A baby went missing. Winnie, a single mom reluctant to leave her newborn for this night out but the May Mothers insisted that everything is going to be fine and she deserves a break too. None a single trace left behind and the babysitter who was looking after the baby fall asleep, she claims that she never heard anyone enter or leave the apartment.
So, who has the baby?
This sure is a fast-paced book. I was hooked on the story, biting my nails and trying to work out who has the baby. The mommy group is made up of a huge variety of mommies from different background and every one of them has their own secrets and the whole book is all from these women perspective. Where are the guys? Well, they are pretty much the background characters. And I really appreciate that the author does some educating on the immigration and maternity/paternity leave, about the struggles and fears that a new mom has to go through, the guilt of leaving their newborns to go back to work, how to make sure a marriage stays after having a baby and also creating women characters who have opinions on political and social issues.
Although, I do like the characters in the book and I somehow feel connected to some part of them. But you don't really get to know much of them because there were just too many characters in the books and they weren't described well.
Also, the POV shift feels all over the place to the point I'm not really sure who POV's am I reading. It's really that jumpy. And parts of the plot can be unrealistic, for example, the mother's obsessive interest in finding the missing baby where she involves herself in the case. She literally went into to the police station and demand to know the progress of this missing baby case. I get that the author needed the May Mothers to be a part of the mystery but it just feels unrealistic.
But overall, I like how the author manipulates the reader. I truly did not see the twist at the end at all. Though when I think about it now, the revealed wasn't what I expected it to be. Do appreciate that it is not that predictable.
