2666 is too sprawling to fit into one concise review. Let me just say the following:

1. Bolano is an incredible storyteller. His words, even in (masterful) translation, are amazingly descriptive and convey such depth.

2. Death, especially the murders of women in the fictional Juarez, provide mileposts throughout the novel and remind the reader of the gravity of the stories, but 2666 is no crime novel.

3. Be able to deal with the unresolved if you read this - stories, character arcs, etc.

4. I finished reading 2666 before I was pregnant with my first child. Thirty-three months have passed and Bolano's novel sticks to me still.

Took kind of long. Definitely time not wasted. But there is so much to digest! There is alot of lore in this book. They all subtly connect with each other. It’s a beautiful story. Good chance you won’t regret reading it.
