Very inspiring book about a woman’s growth from a child who lived with deep poverty , abuse, hunger and racism to achieve the acting career she always dreamed of.  At the same time acknowledging where she came from, the trauma and indeed mentoring and love she experienced.

I liked the audio narration, but I didn't really enjoy the book as a whole. It felt very neat and not as raw and honest as I was hoping it would read.

Viola grew up in severe poverty which included all types of abuse. She fought to climb herself out of it and didn’t become like her siblings and parents.
