My friend read the book first and since we LOVE Ms. Davis as an actress she told me I needed to read it. I opted for the audiobook since it was read by herself. I could not stop listening! She absolutely captivated me. She entranced me. I cried for her father when I had never met the man because I FELT her feelings as she read.

I had to stop reading this book on airplanes as it brought me to tears.  We learn primarily through stories and Viola Davis's account of not only her story, but also her learnings was and will continue to be life changing.
