It’s rare to find a fantasy, sci-fi, or adventure book where the main character accurately represents disability. Fourth Wing did, and it meant the world to me. Violet’s struggle to accept that she needs accommodations—then feeling like a fraud when she excels with them, despite her resilience being an asset—mirrors my own experience in real life (minus the dragons).

I loved this book! It hooked me from the beginning with characters that felt grounded and real and kept me engaged with character growth, world building, magic, dragons, a few good twists, and a few helpings of spice. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next!

DID NOT FINISH

I listened to over half way of the dramatised audiobook. Honestly, the quality of the audiobook production was the only thing that made it bearable. That, and the fact that I listened to it mostly when I was too tired to pay attention to it.

I’ve read similar books of the genre, and found them much more enjoyable, so it’s not even the genre that’s the problem. This just reads like it was written by AI.

Give me a book written by a human being.

I was done reading this in January and I am still obsessed. This is my kind of romantasy.

"There's nowhere in existence you could go that I wouldn't find you, Violence."

This is very clearly not my usual read, but one of my reading goals for this year is to branch out a little…so here we are🐉

There are some things I really enjoy about this story. First, I LOVE the dragons. I love the dragon-human connection and all the little intricacies about Navarre. I think this universe is very creative but not too intense or confusing (I’m not a fan of complicated world building). I also especially enjoy the personalities of Violet’s dragons, and I think the audio version captures this perfectly.

I really like Violet’s character. My heart ached for her being forced into a role that everyone knew she clearly isn’t meant for. However, I loved being along for her journey of self-discovery. It is so fun to witness her discover a strength (both physical AND mental) that she never knew she had.

My big annoyance with this book is ALL the pining—it’s too much! I get it, there’s attraction, sexual tension, etc. but I didn’t need to be hit over the head with it every other page.

The real question is: Am I curious enough to read Iron Flame…probably😂

A really solid start to a fantasy series! Loved the magic system and the pace of the reveals. The romance was age-appropriate for the characters, but some of the writing was a little too modern. For example, Violet often thinks Like. This. For. Emphasis. It’s internet speak and very out of place in a fantasy world. Past that, I really enjoyed the plot and I’m looking forward to reading the next book!
