Read because it was referenced in [b:March: Book One|17346698|March Book One (March, #1)|John Lewis|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1360539808s/17346698.jpg|24086771]. It's a bit of a relic of its time, but I still couldn't help but be pulled in by its message and the effective way it wove its story together.

A great primary text and example of how African Americans used the comic book format to teach civil disobedience and civic participation.

Very good comic book and a piece of history that was published during the Civil Rights Movements. It also served as the precursor/inspiration to John Lewis' "March" graphic novel series[bc:March: Book One|17346698|March Book One (March, #1)|John Lewis|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1360539808s/17346698.jpg|24086771][bc:March: Book Two|22487952|March Book Two (March, #2)|John Lewis|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1405865547s/22487952.jpg|41927811][bc:March: Book Three|29436571|March Book Three (March, #3)|John Lewis|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1457361267s/29436571.jpg|49704739].

I liked that the Montgomery Bus boycott was told from the point of view of a everyday person who would have participated or saw the boycott in person. I especially liked the ending where the nonviolent philosophy is deconstructed for reader and it shows how you can actually live it out.

A really short comic, but I really like the historical aspect/importance of it. I think it's a good artifact to use for teaching/learning about the Civil Rights Movement and explaining more deeply what King's movement specifically taught and trained people to do.

I was curious about this after it was mentioned in March: Book One.

It feels a little hokey and cheesy now (the way all old comics do), but it's informative and interesting as a historical relic.
