I honestly don't even know how to write about this book. It was so unique and engaging and wonderful and different.
I absolutely love how The Wicker King isn't just a book, it's an experience. The novel is littered with mixed media from photos to arrest reports, and the pages themselves get darker and grittier as the book progresses. Finally becoming completely black.
This book teeters on the edge of fantasy vs reality. Imagination vs mental illness.
Jack and August have such a deep, unbreakable bond, which errs on the side of unhealthy, but I couldn't help but love them and root for them. The chapters were quick and erratic, but that just added to the immersion and mentality of the characters.
p.s I've never seen anyone with my name in a book before!

I don’t know how this book was recommended to me because I am not the target demographic. I would have ate this up when I was an angsty middle schooler, but it’s hard to read as an adult because it is so, so toxic.

Found this book at Goodwill on a random Sunday. HAD to finish it immediately. It's heart breaking and perfect at the same time.

I had about half of the book left when i picked this one up tonight for 10 mins before bed. I was thinking maybe I'd just put it to the side and return to because it hadn't been calling to me when I wasn't reading it. But something switched during those 10 minutes and I ended up finishing the book.
